First, let me put your mind at ease. There is no "best" in the chamber at the basic level SLR digital input. Just be sure to follow with a large manufacturer like Canon.
But do not despair. There are some great cameras to choose from.
What you should do is resolve within yourself what are your priorities in purchasing a new Digital Rebel.
Oh! I forgot to tell you. But you probably already know. No Rebel X1i … yet.
I have no idea how the camera manufacturers come with the camera name, but is somewhat confusing, right?
There is a long line Digital Rebel, starting with the original Digital Rebel 300D. At that time there was a combination of 3 characters to remember XSi, XT1 or JQ2. These cards are difficult to keep in mind if you not already have one of the devices they represent. One thing that has remained constant is the numbering system that Canon uses. It started with the Rebel 300D, and each new entry added 50. Therefore, there was the Digital Rebel 350D, 400D, and now we are in the 500D is the T1i.
So this article is really about whether you should buy a Digital Rebel 450D or 500D.
Historically, Canon has added to the Rebel camera line every 2 years.
Each new entry has has made some very significant upgrade over the previous model.
That is, until you get to the latest offer, which was launched a year later of the previous version.
The result, according to many experts that improvements in the Rebel T1i are not sufficient to justify a person to buy the latest model.
Now there are a couple of very good reasons for buying the latest version of Rebelde:
- You buy your first DSLR, and only wants the best model recently, you can get.
- You want to capture a device that has video.
- Money not for you, and you just want a decent security camera.
I've talked to some very reliable sources to conclude that the version previous Digital Rebel (xsi) is very reliable, well featured digital camera that takes pictures that are considered among the best at this level and price range.
There are some differences I have observed:
- Contra-megapixel 12.2 Megapixel 15.1 (not significant at all given the great ability to print Large images either)
- DIGIC 4 vs DIGIC III (when the DIGIC 4 is better, unless a pixel prude, you will not be able to differentiate)
- 3 "LCD with 930,000 pixel resolution of about 3 vs.: LCD with a resolution of 230,000 pixels (although this seems important, what you see in LCD screen should not lead to their decision to purchase)
- Creative Auto is available only in the newer model (it is a way to modify the output of camera inserted by "photographic filters – which some critics have said that the output is not compatible … I prefer to make these changes in Photoshop or processing other texts)
- Video capture is available only in the newer model (although this may be a deciding factor for you, reviews of had mixed feelings about the video capabilities, including the lack of a good sound recorder)
OK, it sounds like I am totally in against the Digital Rebel T1i.
But it is not.
I think both cameras are a great fit for anyone, except extreme amateur or professional photographer.
Digital rebel owners have always given their fantastic images. Mine did. And these devices are no different. Both are highly recommended.
Hopefully you are better informed now than you were. Buying a new camera has always been an exciting venture for me. There are so many techy options and features that the pro reviewers look at. But in my opinion, it all boils down to this – will the camera do what you want it to do.
In this case, either the Rebel XSi or T1i will. There is more info HERE, including product pictures and features.
